What's New with Steve Madden

It occurred to me that since I've more or less been living in sandals and my beloved Dolce Vita knock off wedges from Target, I haven't so much as taken a glimpse at any Steve Madden lately. This is good for my wallet, of course, but I was curious to see what was new.

(I think truth be told I may have been a little scared off by the fact that I keep making myself try on a pair I got last year that is more or less way too tall for me to do even the slightest amount of walking in. We're talking "could wear them out to dinner" and that's about it. I'm being more careful with letting the skyscrapers catch my eyes these days!)

I popped on over to the website, and there are definitely some noticeable trends making their way through the collection. Here are a few of the new styles...

One trend that can be easily spotted is the use of a lot of blue and purple:

Color blocking:

Thicker heels:

The sequin trend:

And again, the leopard print:

You can also currently get 30% off on the "Sneak Peek" section... so be sure to check those out and get them while they're on sale if anything catches your eye!

Are any of these new trends specifically appealing to you?

Steve Madden Sale

Steve Madden is having a big ol' sale on Boots that includes some other shoes as well, and since I have no money for shoe buying, I figured I should at least try to encourage the rest of you not to miss out on some of these fabulous shoes!

LONG Day.

Really REALLY long day, so this is not going to be a long post at all. However, the weather was GORGEOUS today, as in really really sunny, and outrageously bright due to all the snow! Still cold and windy, but that's what coats and gloves are for. Speaking of which, my roommate's mom sent up some little Valentine's presents with Kelly's boyfriend, who's up visiting for the weekend. They included some Mary Kay mascara, some satin lip balm that Kelly says is amazing, and these SUPER SOFT EAR MUFFS! I think she found some fantastic end of winter clearance sales for them, and they are the softest things ever, which clearly is right up my alley.

History of Rock was gooood today, but we only managed to cover Kiss, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and a few others, which means ONE MORE WHOLE DAY dedicated to Motley Crue, Poison, Def Leppard, Guns N Roses, and all those other cheesy 80's Hard Rock bands all my friends make fun of me for liking. Or, ok, a lot of them will dance with me to the fun songs, but still.

One worthy quote I will share with you was from when Andy was talking about going to his first KISS concert with his older brother in Owensboro, KY, at the tender little age of 14. After recapping all the theatrics KISS uses (Which, if you're not familiar, include fireworks, explosions, tons of fire, flying drum sets, spitting of blood and fire, flying Gene Simmons, and more confetti than you could even imagine), he says:

"I don't know about you girls, but it was like the check list for all things a 14 year old boy needs to have a good time. Fire? Check. Explosives? Check. Blood? Check. Rock'N'Roll? CHEEEEEEEEEEEECCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK!"

Yep. I'd say that's all the stuff we need to have fun too. Except maybe replace the blood with high heels, which KISS technically wears anyways.... so we're good.

I'm heading home for the weekend to do some visiting with friends and family, and of course to see my little Lily niece, since she seems to be growing SO ridiculously fast and is already walking and probably getting her driver's license soon. I believe we're doing a single girls night on Sunday, so you can probably expect some GOOD pictures of one of my new pairs of Steve Maddens, and maybe a semi-fancy dress I haven't broken out in a while!

Also one last tid bit- I of course just ordered some clearance workout pants from American Eagle, but the day AFTER I do so, all clearance is an additional 30% off (Code: 49816637) with free shipping all weekend. If it's not a clearance item, use the code 84176459 for an additional 20% off. So if you're into that at all, now's the time to check it out. I may have to just get myself on over there and order some jeans I was contemplating earlier in the week, since they'd be like... $14 with no shipping. Hm....

AMERICAN EAGLE CLEARANCE!!!!

So I woke up at 8 o'clock this morning with my throat practically closed up and as sore as it could get, thanks to this ridiculous little cold or whatever it is I've picked up the last few days. This, naturally, would happen on the day Kelly and I had plans to brunch, run about a million errands (WalMart, JoAnns, Job Hunting, Sam's, etc etc etc), and go to the gym. Luckily Sudafed combined with advil and some pretty strong coffee have severely reduced the unpleasantness, and now I'm just pretty stuffed up... so I think we will at least be able to do a (VERY) late brunch and run the errands. I'm hoping this sick stuff with straighten itself up by tomorrow, or it may just have to deal with the fact that I'm going to the gym anyways.

However, much to MY delight, we were discussing Kel's American Eagle thermal and decided to get on the website and see if they had any on sale... AND THEY HAVE SOME AMAZING CLEARANCE SALES RIGHT NOW! Unfortunately no thermals, but I did order a cardigan, a fleece sweatshirt for lazy days, and another sweater.

The best part is that with 3 items or more, shipping is free, and I also managed to find another 15% off code on Promotion Code! (The code is 56079843, but if you plan on using it get on it because it doesn't specify when it expires!) I've really become quite a fan of googling the websites that give you good discount codes for all types of stores! That website was particularly nice because it gives the dates the code was last said to work based on user feedback, as well as the average amount saved by users!

In the end, all of these ended up each costing only $17, which is a pretty good steal for things that were originally $30-$50! I have really been in need of some more sweaters and a cardigan, so to say the least I am REALLY excited! I'd really recommend checking out the sales if you have any interest in AE, because they've got everything from pea coats to underwear to hats and necklaces on clearance!

Now I'm off to attempt to make my sick self look somewhat presentable so Kelly and I can be functioning members of society today. Since she's back AND has a brand new camera, maybe we'll have a 2 for 1 outfit post later!!!

Lily and her Kitty Hat

The only thing better than shopping for ME is shopping for babies. I swear they make the CUTEST things... and Babies R Us was having a sale on all their winter clothing/accessories, so of course my mom and I couldn't make it out of there the other day without buying SOMETHING for my friend Emily's 11 month old baby Lily. We stopped in to see if they had any baby cowgirl boots, and ended up getting this adorable jacket and hat/mitten set. They were both SO soft and so cheap! All outerwear is 50% off right now (This jacket was only ten dollars) so for anyone reading this with kids- get in and check it out.

I'm including close ups so you can see just how soft they even look!

I went over to visit Em, Ryan, and Lily last night, and we let Lily unwrap her present. It took her a little bit of help to focus... she kept opting to play with the toys nearby or go racing off down the hallway instead. I think once she realized paper was involved she was all for it (She loves everything to do with paper, especially eating it, or trying anyways). Once she got the box open the hanger the jacket came on was really her favorite part.

We obviously had to put the hat/mittens on her for pictures. She wasn't a fan of the mittens- and once we got one on she'd have it off before we managed to get the other one on, so that took a bit of a group effort. She was pretty accepting of the hat though! Once they were all on and she didn't really have the ability to take the mittens off, she kept waving her arms in the air trying to shake them off (Hence the fact that her arms are blurry in half of the pictures), but we managed to get a few pictures in before she did so.

This last picture is when she's getting ready for bed- but I just had to include it because it really shows off her mo-hawk. Her hair so far has only grown on the back of her head and the tuft on top generally sticks straight up making her look like she's got a little mo-hawk all the time. In this picture she had dumped out a container full of jingle bells and had them all piled in between her legs and kept jingling them around to make noise. When we'd try to take them away from her and put them back in the container she would slam her hand down into it to pop them all up like a bunch of popcorn kernels, smiling with the pleasure of her trouble causing. It's so fun watching her grow up and getting all the 'aunt-like' perks!!!

Forever 21 Sales!

Meant to post this a while ago and have of course been without a computer and caught up in the frenzy of studying and stressing for finals. This is a picture of one of the dresses I got on MEGA CLEARANCE at Forever 21. And by that I mean... around $5. Which, even for Forever 21, is quite the steal. I also got one in the same pattern but purple, because as far as I'm concerned you cannot have too many summer dresses, especially when they're only five dollars.

This one I wore with brown leggings, my trusty Durango Cowboy Boots, and I also wore my brown Old Navy CardiCoat over it. I didn't get a picture with the sweater, but here's one of the dress. It's super fun and flowy and I think will pair well with a million things I've got in my closet, so I'm pretty excited about it.

I'm ALSO pretty excited about the fact that I got to my parents house today to see that my two pairs of Steve Maddens that my mom ordered me for Christmas have arrived! Of course I had to try them on to be sure they fit. The gold Merriees fit LIKE A GLOVE. The Fiesstaas are a little bit more loose as far as what I'm used to in high heels, in that they don't seem to offer as much support. I still love them, and can't wait to get used to them.

I was a little disappointed that they weren't as pink as the looked in the picture. In this picture they look almost purple, but they are definitely a fuschia. In all fairness, that's what the color was listed as on the website... but the pictures all made them look HOT pink.

Regardless, I do still love them, and can't wait until Christmas when I get to unwrap them and WEAR THEM!!!! It's going to be a high heeled Christmas in Alex's Wonderland, that's for sure!
