Spring Into Summer

This is an outfit I halfway wore and posted about back in April, but with a pink pocket t-shirt and a different belt. This is a more summery take on this skirt. And yes, it's a skirt not a dress. I don't think it was even intended to be a high-waisted skirt, but if not, it would be a REAL awkward length, so I bought it a little small, with the intention of wearing it ULTRA high waisted and making it just look like a color-block dress of sorts.

Outfit
Skirt, Light Pink Cami, Pink Lace Trim Cami: Old Navy
Pink Belt: Target
Wedges: Banana Republic
Bangles: For Love 21, India

These shoes, from Banana Republic (I think I got them on clearance ages ago), are some of my all-time favorite wedges... and probably the ones that really got me hooked. You can clearly tell by the fact that they look like they've been worn a million times. But wedges are another story, I'll be posting more about those in the near future.

Makeup: Kept it light and summery with Yellow and Bronze CoverGirl eyeshadows, Nude Lipstick topped with a light layer of vaseline (Best 'lip gloss' ever), and Rimmel London Glam Eyes mascara. I've been a BIG fan of the nude lips this summer.

Does anyone else out there have outfits, or specific articles of clothing, that somehow end up going from season to season with only small changes to adjust?

The Casual Little Black Dress

This dress, which I posted about during my big Target shopping spree (pictured in the pink pattern), is one of my new favorites. I'm so glad that I got the black one, because it can go so many different ways, from casual to a little dressier, and can be worn with so many different things!

I wore this when I went out on Tuesday for a few drinks with my cousin Megan. Of course paired with my favorite new wedges and my even more favorite side bag. Seriously... I tried to go out on Monday with a normal huge purse (to carry Lauryn's saltines, birthday shirts, etc), and I lost my IDs IN MY PURSE at every bar we went to.

I think somewhere along the lines of washing the dress got a little shorter, but I really like the length it is right now!!!! I will tell you, it's not the highest quality ever and already has a little hole in the seam by the bottom ruffle, but I mean for as cheap as Target usually is, that can be expected. I almost just wish I would have bought two in this color! (Because I did actually buy two... haha... one's just in "Cosmo Pink".)

Another 21st Birthday!

Yesterday was my friend Lauryn's 21st, so of course we had to take her out and show her how it's done in Bloomington. Monday is not the ideal night for bar hopping, obviously, even in a college town, since most places don't have as many specials and there aren't a ton of people out, but you better believe that we made it a damn good time. I'll just do a picture post of high-lights. Some of these pictures were actually making me laugh hysterically when I looked at them earlier. I love birthdays, and 21st birthdays are the best of them all.

(Stacks on deck, Patron on ice, and we can pop bottles all night baby, you can have whatever you like! Patron Shot = $3. Best. Deal. Ever.)

I think the best pictures came from Sports... all sorts of good faces going on here. Not to mention that by the time we were there, pretty much EVERYONE was gone so we had the bouncers, bartenders, and bars (for timer pictures, of course) all to ourselves.

(My new boyfriend.)

(What was the goal here? Do an inappropriately sexual pose?)

(I'm going to go ahead and say that these two pictures win for the night, and that the faces are all too appropriate for a one dollar shot of Jim Beam.)

We capped off the night at the birthday girls' house with a fantastic Yellow Submarine sing a long. All in all, I'd say it was a pretty great night. I forgot to take pictures of the shot book pages before I gave it to her, but I'm getting it back soon to write in all the drinks... so I'll post a few pages from it then. I think it turned out really well!!

Summer Sundresses and a GIVEAWAY!

These pictures are, at this point, almost a week old. Better late than never right? Kind of just an errand/class outfit, so nothing too fancy. But I did manage to get a decent picture with the jean jacket for once! Sorry for the sleepy eyes. I'm sure this was fairly early for me, so I'm assuming that's why I look half asleep in all of these pictures.

(Playing with my hair... not trying to do some awkward boxing pose...)

Outfit
Dress: Target (On clearance last fall!)
Belt: Old Navy
Shoes: Charlotte Russe
Jean Jacket: American Eagle
Bangles: Charlotte Russe.

Did you happen to notice that my roommate, Kelly, and I are doing the same poses in both picture? Definitely unintentional, but I guess all the best friends and roommates do it ;-)

Speaking of Kelly... she's having her first giveaway over at Sew Me Some Love! So click HERE and go check it out! She's got another bigger one coming up sometime, and from the ideas she's tossed around, it sounds like it will be a good one!

Summer Sandal Wish List

Every now and then I get taken by shoe fever... and this time I am all about sandals! These are the ones that struck my fancy on Dillards' website. Can you tell I kind of have a thing for these thick black strappy sandals? ;-)

Tie Dye Adventures!

So my roommate and I have been wanting to tie dye for the longest time... since before Easter, when we tie dyed eggs! Well, we finally got around to it, and I'm REALLY happy with how things turned out! I got a big T-shirt from Target, a tank from Old Navy, and then used an old fitted white t-shirt I had here, and an older IU sweatshirt which recently had some kind of mysterious mishap in the washer and ended up with pink splotches on several parts.

Overall, I think I was the happiest with how the sweatshirt came out! It didn't even dye the letters! I was also really excited that I managed to actually get the "tie dye swirl" pattern on the one shirt, though I wish the color would have been a little more vivid. Other than that, the colors all turned out pretty great, and I can't wait to wear these comfy sleepy shirts, and maybe even try to integrate the fitted tee into some sort of outfit....

In other news, while we were waiting for the shirts to soak for an hour, we went to the gym to get in the hot tub. I mean, Lauryn actually worked out, Kelly and I... not so much. We decided we're getting up early tomorrow to go swim laps. I really need to get back in the swing of this working out thing... and I'm way more motivated to swim than to do the stairmaster, though I do kind of miss it. Maybe in few days. Isn't that how it always works?

My Week.

Beatles Beatles Beatles. We have our first test Thursday, a mere week and a half after the class started. As much as I love listening to them all day long, these first few albums on this test are kind of hard just because a lot of it is stuff I haven't heard much, if at all, before. And a lot of covers which require the memorization of original artist. (Oh, look, it's the Beatles in Hamburg with Stu Sutcliffe and Pete Best! When there were five... and no Ringo.)

SHOT BOOK! My friend Lauryn's birthday is next Monday, and I'm making her a shot book for her birthday. I LOVE scrapbooking, and now that I've got all the pictures/etc organized it's coming together pretty well. I'm really excited. I'll share some pictures of finished pages once I give it to her so it doesn't give anything away. My favorites so far are the Red Headed Slut and Patron pages :-)

Rain Rain. Go away? It's been raining for like a week. I got a break when I went to Brownstown with my friend Betsy to her family's lake house on Saturday, but it was still a little overcast. I'm ready for sun and a good summer tan. Anyways, here are a few pictures from the lake. The dog is Betsy's dog Chipper, my new favorite other than my own. She was so cute with her little ears flapping in the wind on the boat. (And by little ears I mean big floppy ears, she's a Walker Hound so by no means does she have little ears.)
