PARANORMAL ACTIVITY.

I HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS MOVIE! Apparently it's "The Next Blair Witch Project", and those who have seen it say it's the scariest movie of the decade. They also say the only thing that came close was The Descent, which I personally loved, and I thought that was absolutely terrifying. They claim "35 people had walked out of an early test screening; exit interviews with those folks revealed it wasn't because they weren't enjoying the film. It was because they were too scared." Here's the link to the full article with the story about it:

http://insidemovies.moviefone.com/2009/09/25/paranormal-activity-movie-next-blair-witch?icid=main|aim|dl2|link3|http%3A%2F%2Finsidemovies.moviefone.com%2F2009%2F09%2F25%2Fparanormal-activity-movie-next-blair-witch

Unfortunately they're releasing it on a "Demanded" basis, explained in the article, despite that it was picked up by Paramount at Slamdance. They're going to go wide with it once they hit 1,000,000 demands, and are already about halfway there, so go here and 'Demand It' in your city if you think you might be interested.

Also-- any reviews from anyone who's already seen Zombieland? And anyone in/around the Bloomington area, Kel and I are looking for some good Haunted Houses (real or fake) or supposedly haunted locations in the area to check out this month.

LOVE Halloween :-)

Claire, Alex, and Kelly Escapades

WAY too much happened last night to really sum anything up efficiently, so we'll recap with a brief list.

x Shotglass glow bowling with christmas lights and a light up ball.
x Dark Side of Oz, for the 800th time (It never gets old), accompanied by...
x A game of "Little Person or Child" and...
x The realization that all the Munchkins have flowers sticking out of their shoes and hats.
x Claire's made up game consisting of placing post it notes with instructions all over the checkered floor, placing an object (hair clip this time) on the fan, turning it on, and following the instructions of whatever square you land on. This cannot EVEN be described to sound as good as it was.
x Hallway gymnastics, resulting in a very sore Alex and Kelly.
x Top Hats, Russians, and Sunglasses, OH MY!
x LOTS of Girl Talk dancey dance. (Feed The Animals. To my disappointment there were no real animals.)

I'd say it was a lovely way to end my freedom for the next week as we roll into ICORE midterms. I may update within a few days with pictures, if you're lucky.

DAMN YOU STEVE MADDEN!

And damn YOU Zappos and Nordstrom for your free shipping on shoes. I've seemingly got an unhealthy (for my bank account, anyways) obsession with shoes, and can't stop finding myself thinking of things to sell or clever ways to save money in the next few weeks (Hey, food isn't THAT important, right?) so I can afford all three of these. And believe me, where there's a will, there's a way, and I WILL have them eventually! Plus, the Merriees are totally on sale and my mouth has been watering over those for months now. I think it may be time to say goodbye to the Ibanez and the Zildjans...

Whoopi Is an IDIOT.

When discussing the Roman Polanski case on the view, Whoopi was insistent upon the situation not being "Rape-rape". Apparently when a 45 year old man gets a 13 year old girl drunk, drugs her, and then has sex with her, it's not rape.

Another little gem from Whoopi's mouth was her defense of Polanski leaving the country when she said his thought process was "You know what, this guy's going to give me a hundred years in jail, I'm not staying, so that's why he left." DUH that's why he left, but since when did we encourage leaving the country or going on the run as an option for when you feel like you just don't really want to deal with your appropriate punishment?

No single part of her arguments for this man made even a little bit of sense and were ultimately just ignorant. Sherri Sheppard points out a quote from a friend of Polanksi's stating "Millions and millions of people love his work, he's a brilliant guy, and he made a little mistake 32 years ago" and questions whether anyone would be trying to defend him is he wasn't famous. OF COURSE THEY WOULDN'T.

Reality check folks: raping a child is not a "LITTLE MISTAKE" just because you're famous. A little mistake is something like that atrocity Whoopi calls a wardrobe.

Kate Plus Eight

THANK GOD! It's about time someone realized that NO ONE wants to hear about that tool Jon Gosselin anymore. If we wanted to see what he's doing, all we need to do is pick up a copy of any trashy tabloid or turn on ANY television station to get an update of his classless rendezvous.

Of course ratings have gone down since the split, what with Jon's role in the show appearing as more of a desperate last attempt to make it look like he's doing something responsible for his kids- though the attempt rarely pays off. I think we can all agree that the statement "My focus is on the kids" would hold a little more credibility if the kids he was focused on were his own rather than the 20 year old girls he's running around with in Europe.

All I have to say is, GOOD FOR KATE! She clearly seems to be making an effort to have a single handed go at the parenting thing, and appears to be doing a damn good job at it while even loosening up quite a bit.

And after all, whose word holds truer than the kids themselves? "Mommy, we only do fun things when YOU'RE here" (And daddy isn't trying to hook up with all the babysitters).

Beat the New Year, Getting in Shape Now.

IT'S FALLL!!!! Of course one of my favorite seasons, other than spring. Although, I must admit Fall may even come first. Spring is really only good for flowers, my birthday, and Little Five, while Fall comes fully stocked with Halloween, amazing weather and colors, haunted houses, great parties, good decorations, and SO much more.

We're kicking this fall off with a getting into shape marathon here at the Jungle. I'm starting on the Jillian Michaels cleanse and burn pills, along with Kim Kardashian's on demand workouts (Fit in your jeans by friday!) and some pilates, and we can't forget healthy eating. Hopefully this one will ACTUALLY STICK. I'll keep you updated on that one.

One downside to fall is the approaching week of midterms, which conveniently may prevent me from tailgating and attending the Ohio State game. Regardless, I'll probably watch it on TV, since I'm finally starting to understand football for once. Home last weekend, I probably watched more football with my dad than I've watched in the rest of my life, combined. There were some damn good games though, with a last minute Bengals win, a last minute IU lose (AND SOME SHITTY CALLS ON BEHALF OF THE REFS), and of course the fact that Purdue lost!!!

I'm just ready to get these midterms over with and enjoy fall, and most of all HALLOWEEN! Kelly and I have got to start making our costumes soon. Have I mentioned how much I love having a crafty roommate? We have, of course, already started decorating, and much more to come! Hopefully we'll get some pictures up here soon.

IU Pedestrians: Suicidal? Or Just Plain Dumb?

(First off I would like to point out that it is not my intention to be insensitive with this subject, but to raise awareness of something far too many people are ignoring. I would also like to point out that I do not in any way intend to place blame on either the drivers, or the pedestrians, involved in recent accidents on campus, as every situation is different.)

I am truly in awe at how STUPID some people can be. Everyone is aware that a student was hit and killed in an accident last week, and that two more accidents also occurred where the students were just injured. DOES THIS NOT MAKE YOU WANT TO BE A LITTLE MORE CAREFUL WHEN CROSSING STREETS, OR DRIVING ON THEM FOR THAT MATTER?

Since these accidents occurred, I have CONSIDERABLY reduced the speed I drive while on campus, particularly during the day when there are a lot of students. But ladies and gentlemen, there are two parties in these scenarios, and regardless of how cautious drivers are, it is still your responsibility to be careful as a pedestrian. On the way home today I literally almost ran over 3 different people, while I was only going about 10 miles per hour. People were constantly just running out in the middle of the street without so much as looking at what was going on around them, and then when noticing a car was approaching they would get mad and throw their hands in the air like they had the right to be in the middle of the street. Not to mention that all of these incidents occurred within feet of a stop sign/cross walk.

If there's a cross walk, USE IT. Yes, many drivers still do not pay enough attention to these, which is another problem, but for god's sake if it's at a stop sign? No matter how hard we are watching for people who may be running across the street, our reaction times can only be so fast and you need to at least LOOK before you cross. News flash: These ARE open and operating streets which are intended for the use of driving cars. I don't know what the big surprise is there.

That being said, I can only hope that ALL of you will PLEASE start paying more attention: Both as a driver and a pedestrian. These accidents ARE preventable and no friends or family should have to go through what I'm sure those of people like Peter Duong went through.

The Psychopath's Test.

The story goes like this. At her mother's funeral, a woman met a man and fell instantly in love. But she never got his name, number, or anything else about him. A few days later, the woman killed her sister.

Why did she kill her sister?

Why DO They Invite Kanye To These Things Anymore!?

Of course everyone has heard of Kanye's little outburst as he jumped on stage right as Taylor Swift began her acceptance speech to inform everyone that BEYONCE should have won.

WHAT a freaking tool.

Yes, we're entitled to our opinions, but how disrespectful can one person be!? I think there were a few others who should have won the award over Taylor Swift, but they didn't, and what's done is done. I felt absolutely horrible for that poor girl to have her first VMA win ruined like that, and just as bad for the horrified Beyonce sitting in the audience. Did Kanye not think this whole little debacle would reflect poorly on HER as well? Granted, she clearly had nothing to do with it and more than made up for a mistake that wasn't even hers by letting Taylor on to finish her acceptance when Beyonce won Best Video.

Kanye later posted the following on his blog, after being kicked out of the remainder of the awards:

"I’m sooooo sorry to taylor swift and her fans and her mom.... She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she’s in the bleachers! ….. i’m in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!…… beyonce’s video was the best of this decade! I’m sorry to my fans if I let you guys down! I’m sorry to my friends at mtv. I will apologize to taylor 2mrw. welcome to the real world! everybody wanna booooo me but i’m a fan of real pop culture! No disrespect but we watchin’ the show at the crib right now cause … well you know! i’m still happy for taylor! Boooyaaawwww! you are very very talented! I gave my awards to outkast when they deserved it over me… that’s what it is!! i’m not crazy yall, i’m just real. Sorry for that! I really feel bad for taylor and i’m sincerely sorry! Much respect!!”

Not Crazy? Just real? Yeah... a REAL ASSHOLE. And we KNOW you think Beyonce's video was the best, there's not really any need to reiterate THAT point again... that one will be all over Youtube for years to come, prick.

I highly doubt sorry is the word to explain what he's feeling. Let's recall his little incident in 2004 at the AMA's when he left after losing best new artist and gave a statement to reporters saying "I felt like I was definitely robbed, and I refused to give any politically correct bullsh---ass comment ... I was the best new artist this year." Clearly not a one time thing for this guy.

It's a wonder he has any fans left. I like his music just as much as the next person but I'll be damned if I ever spend a penny on his music again. I think someone needs to inform him the actual definition of respect because he is clearly oblivious.

Rolling Stone's article regarding the incident.

"Don't Have Sex With Untouchables."

September 25, 2009 is the release date for "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell", the movie based after the New York Times Best Seller by Tucker Max. Prior to that release, they have been doing a month long tour of premiers. Lucky for us, one of those premiers happened to be in Bloomington!
It consisted of various attendants telling their own funny (Or more often than not, so unfunny that Tucker took the mic from them mid way through their account) stories, followed by the movie, a Q&A, and then a meet and greet with Tucker.

No stories are really worth recap, except maybe the kid who was on shrooms and running around his town in the freezing cold trying to find Jesus, only to be stopped by a cop who apparently knew him by name. Even that's not really even that great.

The movie however, was just what one would have expected. AMAZING. Though it varied a little bit from the book, it maintained the very essence of Tucker Max thanks to the fact that it was produced independently with funding from Darko Productions and Tucker was able to maintain creative control (This we all learned while sipping on Ketel One and Redbulls on the tour bus with Bill Dawes, the host, and Greg Kissner, the camera guy). Apparently if this movie does well enough they plan on making as many as fans will support, following up with the "Tucker Tries Buttsex" and "Las Vegas" chapters of the book.

The Q&A was mildly lame due to lack of good questions as well as Tucker being much too hungover. But one little gem went as follows: Guy: "Do you think age will ever catch up to you?" Tucker: "I'm not fucking Jesus Christ I'm not going to live forever! Fuck, he didn't even live forever!" Nils (Other Producer): "Yeah dude but it wasn't age that caught up with him, it was the Romans!"

The meet and greet was quick and to the point, but we did manage to get the picture for framing and hanging in the living room. Disappointingly, none of us looked as good as we would have liked for it, and Tucker even looks relatively unattractive, though terribly happy.

Later in the night, after catching Bill Dawes attention for a video interview after the movie (Being with an Indian girl and a Korean guy, he procclaimed that we looked like a bag of skittles and were worth an interview), he texted us wanting us to come hang out with everyone, so we made our way over to the Holiday Inn where the tour bus was parked. Tucker unfortunately had to be in Chicago for press early the next day and had already left, but we hung out with Bill, Greg, and a few other girls that were there. Oh, and Tucker's dog Murphy who Bill likes to take for walks on his rollerblades, though she refuses to pull him because Tucker has trained her NOT to ever walk in front of anyone. And yes, Bill Dawes rollerblades.

Much to our dismay, we weren't allowed to take any pictures on the tour bus. We did get free swag bags at the premier that consisted of "I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell" Pub glasses, bottle opener key chains, pens, bumper stickers, t-shirts, and a "WWTD?" Bracelet. A pretty sweet deal considering we only paid $10, a mere fifty cents more than any other movie would have cost!

The highlight of the entire weekend was probably on saturday when Bill texted trying to convince us to drive up to Chicago to hang out, wanting us to bring his suitcase that he left in the hotel and insisting he would pay us $200 to do so. Sounded like fun, but given that we wouldn't have had anywhere to stay, could not have bar hopped with them, and would have had to drive four and a half hours there, AND back, we decided it was not at all a great idea. (Sexual assault not a concern, as consent is a stressed priority with these guys-- not much of a surprise considering Tucker is a law school graduate.)

I'm personally just glad to know that Tucker and his crew are still up to their usual shenanigans and probably will never quit. The new book comes out in February, and we can't wait.

In the meantime, We hope they serve beer (and cosmopolitans) in hell too.
