Busy Saturday and Another Run In With Bloomington's Finest.

Saturday was a busy busy busy day. Woke up at 8am to volunteer in the garden at Wonderlab, which is sort of a fun-science related children's museum. Mostly we cut down dead prairie grass all morning, and I definitely felt it the next day. Who knew gardening could be such a workout? We were all SO sore!

After volunteering I helped my cousin move in and get settled in her new apartment, and then went over to Annissa and Lauryn's for some day drinking on the back deck. The weather was gorgeous, and it's my opinion that day drinking is something that must be taken advantage of in college... because let's be honest, that's not something we will just be able to do in real life.

Despite the fact that there were only 7 of us just hanging out on the back deck playing beer pong and listening to music (and that the other neighbors were doing the same thing), one of the other neighbors apparently called in a noise complaint. Yeah, the cops showed up at 6 in the afternoon on a gorgeous saturday. Do these neighbors have lives? I'm still just astonished that of all the parties I've been to in college, we've had the police called TWICE IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS on very small gatherings where we were not even doing anything wild. The cops apparently thought it was ridiculous that they were called too, because they just asked us about how to play beer pong and left, saying they could hear our voices but didn't think anything was out of line at all.

(Lindsay and Lauryn)

So I guess this is my luck now. Thank goodness Bloomington Police are cool. I wore one of my new Old Navy high waisted skirts for the afternoon! Paired with light pink and yellow tank tops, also from Old Navy ($5 each... bargain!), yellow Anthropologie sunglasses, and my brown belt. Ran out the door in a bit of a hurry and ended up just throwing on the first flip flops I could find. I love this skirt, but it was kind of windy and kept blowing around... so I had to make sure I was careful not to expose too much!!!

Also- DEFINITELY a give away. Within the next week, at the latest. I've got one part of it done but want to do one more thing to give some options. I think you guys will like it, so get ready to tell your friends :-)

Picture Post- Spring Break Brunch with Steven

Over Spring Break my best friend Steven and I made brunch complete with Mimosas and French Bread French Toast (Recipe here, at Wonderland Kitchen. Given recipe uses Challah bread but French Bread works just the same!). SO delicious!!!

(And I finally have my camera back, obviously)

(Squinty eyes! It was so bright!)

Delias Deals!

As you can see I've yet again changed my layout. Truth be told, I'm just too OCPD (Yes, I'm convinced I really have this) and I know that last background, as much as I loved it, was a bit much on the eyes. Hopefully we'll stick with this one for a while.

I finally ordered some dresses from Delias... but they were out of BOTH of the ones I wanted in the size I wanted! Definite bummer. I like the ones I got, but I still liked the others better. Oh well, these are a little more simple, so hopefully I'll be able to do more with them. I'm still just crossing my fingers that they fit well, because you never know!

I also found a code to get $20 OFF WHEN YOU SPEND $75 OR MORE (See Here. Code is 20DISCD. Expires March 31st.) so because my order was a little under that, I threw in this pair of cheap sunglasses to push it over the edge. Plus, I just love sunglasses, and really needed a new pair anyways. Cheap ones usually last me a while, but I'm always misplacing them around the house so the more the merrier.

It's weird, because I haven't shopped at Delias since I was in like, Junior High or something, and I am not even sure if I'm "Too old" to be shopping there... but I think I'm ok with this purchase. Now I just have to wait for summery weather to arrive to really get the most out of the dresses! I'm just so awful at dressing for Spring weather! I WANT to wear dresses and skirts and fun flirty warm weather clothes, but it's always too chilly to go without a jacket and I have so few light jackets/sweaters that it makes it difficult to not give in to my summer side.

I've been thinking of more giveaway ideas too, so I think you'll definitely be seeing that soon. Especially if I lure one more unsuspecting blogger in to hit 20 ;-)

Easter and Tie-dye Fever

I've made up my mind that I am GOING to dye Easter Eggs on sunday. I love love love it! So now I just need to go pick out a kit. I think one year we tie-dyed eggs, and I've been really in the mood for that lately. I think we'll also probably tie-dye shirts soon... because there is nothing I love more than a soft tie-dye t-shirt to sleep in!

I am also contemplating some sort of give-away... because I'm almost to 20 followers, which is crazy considering that when I started this blog it was really only my Dad following it. (And it has evolved SO much since then!!!) I suppose my main hang up is that I'm not quite sure what I want to give! I've got a few ideas though, so check back soon.

Hopefully my camera gets here today (or might alright be at our apartment offices?) and I can finish up the last post or two from Spring Break. I hate being so far behind!

Health Care?

Wait, so Nancy Pelosi compared this whole Health Care vote to Social Security? Does this mean that by the time I'm 50, there won't be any Health Care available for me either? ;-)

On that note, I don't want to get too political, but I DO want to share this video. Just because it is really funny, and as they say, factual. Whether you're a right or a left or stuck somewhere in the middle as I am, you can't help but laugh at some of this. (Sorry it's going to temporarily take over half of my side bar!)

I Have Officially Lost My Marbles.

Ladies and gentlemen, my mind is subconsciously protesting this return from Spring Break to such extremes that it's a wonder I'm even level headed enough to post right now!

Big surprise that I left my camera at my parents' house AGAIN. And lost my phone about twenty times today. And got myself all worked into a tizzy trying to make the perfect schedule for next semester, thinking we registered this week for fall classes... when really it's not for another month. That's another story all together, I've somehow deluded myself into thinking it's perfectly ok to stress over my schedule until I have no classes that start before noon, Fridays off, and minimal breaks in between classes. Who knows how I'm ever going to deal with a real job.

I have, however, decided that Real Estate would be an ideal industry for me. I drove my cousin around Bloomington all day today looking at apartments I had found for her (and some she had found so as to not take ALL credit), and even carried a little notebook to keep track of what she liked, didn't like, and the high points of each apartment. Does everyone else love apartment shopping as much as I do? Because I don't think it's normal, but I LOVE IT. I could totally get paid to find houses with the desired features and walk around pointing out the wonderful overhead lighting, ample closet space, and spacious kitchen layouts.

Anyways. I guess I'll have some more Spring Break recaps in a few days when my poor little camera finally gets here. You think I would have learned by now to check for that coming back...

Play Date with LilyPop

Thursday afternoon, after braving the BMV to get my driver's license renewed, I went over to my friend Emily's to visit my favorite little kind-of niece, Lily Ann! I honestly feel like it was just yesterday that Emily was even telling me she thought she was pregnant, and now Lily is 14 months old!!! It's so crazy how fast they grow up!

She's one of the funniest little kids I've ever met, and is always laughing or trying to do something to make you laugh. She's also big on mocking, and when she kept trying to grab my sunglasses, I kept acting like I was going to bite her fingers... and she started doing the little chomping face too. It was so adorable... and my friend Katelyn actually got this picture of it.

We also tried to play with bubbles with her, but for a while she was mostly interested in just chasing the cat around instead of the bubbles. Finally she got the hang of it, and would kind of just wave her hands in the air trying to pop them, or maybe just keep them from popping on her head again.

Such a cutie! I still hope that when I have my own kids I like them as much as I like her, they'll have large shoes to fill! :-)

St. Patrick's Day

I'm normally all about themes, but this year I guess I just didn't have any green articles of clothing that I really was too fond of. SO, instead, when I went out to the Deerhead Tavern with some friends at home, I wore one of my new shirts from Forever 21. If it's any consolation, I threw on a green strand of Mardi Gras beads on my way out to door to ward away any pinches!

It was probably one of the calmest St. Patrick's Days I've had in a while... most of us didn't do a bit of drinking since they're cracking down so hard on drinking and driving this month. It was still nice though to just hang out and catch up with some of my friends that I don't get to see often enough!!!

I head back to Bloomington tomorrow. It's utterly depressing that Spring Break is over. I've got a lot to look forward to between now and summer, but the school part is taking it's toll as usual in the Spring Semester. I think I'll have to do some Easter Egg dying soon to lift my spirits, and maybe even some t-shirt tie-dying, because I've been wanting to do that for a while now. Though I guess I should also try to focus and get myself ahead if possible with classes, since 21 is right around the corner... and we KNOW that's going to bring some trouble!

Hello Hello! (And some Home Sweet Chicago)

So I'm gone for practically a week, and I come back to three more followers! Welcome, newcomers!!! I've also gotten so behind on everything I want to post, since I was in Chicago from Sunday to yesterday (Wednesday) and now I'm back at HOME home in Southern Indiana... but hopefully in the next few days I can get myself caught up here. My apologies if posts get a little picture cluttered!!!

So I'll try not to get ahead of myself, and start with Chicago. I went to visit my dad's apartment (He works/lives there during the week) and my days were mostly spent reading/working out/sleeping in/cocktailing, which was completely relaxing and ok with me.

I got to go to Gibson's Steakhouse sunday night... one of the best restaurants EVER. I wore this floral print tie front shirt I bought forever ago and never could really figure out what to pair it with, and my usual high waisted black eyelet skirt. I really need to go get another high waisted skirt- this poor guy is way overworn.

Monday I cooked and then we went to see Alice in Wonderland (Again!). I wore the Alice headband bow again, but tried it out with a shirt that is a little more summery. And yes, in the one picture, I'm wearing shorts, it just happens that the way the shirt falls in this pose you can't see them. Not trying to whore it up for the whole internet to see!

Tuesday we went to this great Mexican/South American restaurant called Carnivale. The decorating scheme inside was crazy, and really fun, and the food was SO GOOD. The service was a little lacking, but it was still a good night. However, before dinner, I did manage to drag my dad to Forever 21... actually a Forever XXI, aka HUGE. We were in a hurry so I was trying to be fast, but I still bought 2 shirts and a dress that will likely make an appearance soon.

Next up... ST. PATRICK'S DAY! Nothing too crazy for that, but I will have a picture of one of the Forever shirts I bought, and a few other pictures from going out, so it's worthy enough of its own post. See ya soon ;-) And thanks again to the new followers who have joined us!!!

Happy Spring Break!

...To those of you who are just starting, or will be on break soon. For those of you who are almost done with your break, I hope it was a good one!

So far mine has mostly consisted of Spring Cleaning and Pilates. Last night I did go out to a cabin near Bloomington where my dad and some of his friends from high school are staying for a "Boys Weekend". Some of the other daughters who live here went out and they cooked us dinner (Jambalaya) which was DELICIOUS!... And free, which is always nice on a college budget.

(A picture of Maui from last years' Spring Break)

Tomorrow I'm heading back to Chicago with my dad to stay for a few days, then home to Southern Indiana on Wednesday for the rest of the week. Nothing too exciting, but it's just nice to have a break at all!

My "Spring Break 2010" playlist follows this theme. I guess I kind of made it with these slightly warm but rainy days we've been having in mind. I love making playlists for pretty much any break/event, so I thought I'd share this one with you. Some of the songs weren't on Playlist.com (Norah Jones' Chasing Pirates, for example) but this was most of them!

Sorry that the size of the blog kind of messed with the player/the ability to do things on it... if you click "Pop Out Player" it should bring up a more easily navigated version.
