Hoosier Pride

Keeping things somewhat fashionable with Miss Kelly for Thursday night's basketball game against Illinois (which we won, BY THE WAY). I forgot how much I love going to basketball games... especially when we pull off a win.

Self Control

...Something I don't have when it comes to my hair.

Honestly I'm probably one of those people that over-thinks too many things in life, but when it comes to my hair, I get an idea in my head and need to carry it out immediately. That's why, against my better judgment and the advice of a close hair-stylist friend and others, I cut my own bangs. I've done it before and it's never too awful... it usually just needs to be trimmed a little bit so they lay like they're supposed to.

I'm actually really glad I ended up doing it, now I just need to get used to having them again. I didn't actually intend for them to be straight across at first, but once they're at a certain length they really just work better that way. I'm sure soon enough they'll be too grown out and will be back to being side-swept.

(Still not completely recovered from sickness, but recovered enough to stir up some trouble with Kel again)

Love: Charlotte Russe

Out of all of the shoes I was look at on the Charlotte Russe website, I ended up only finding one pair in store that had the right size and seemed like something that was comfortable enough that I would actually wear. I tried on the nude pumps and LOVED the way they looked, but they had that weird combination of fitting perfectly on the front but just barely being too loose on the back and I knew they'd be the kind I was constantly slipping out of when walking. Here are the ones I got:

Here's another close up of the ring from my last outfit post that I love so much:

I also ended up with a couple of pairs of earrings but of course I can't find pictures of them online. I'll try to get some whenever I wear them. I've been going for the longer earrings lately because those are really the only ones that will stand out in my wild hair.

I would definitely recommend checking out their website right now. They have some sales going on for Valentine's Day, and a LOT of really cute dresses! Unfortunately I don't think I would fit into many of them thanks to my, uh, chest being a little too big (That is not always a good thing for those of you who wish yours were bigger!!!).

Do any of you ladies shot at Charlotte? I never did quite as much until my roommate started working there again. Now I try to avoid going in as much as possible because I know it is near impossible for me to walk out without buying at least an accessory! What are your favorite things to get there?

The Ring That Hugs Your Finger!

I was in Charlotte Russe last week to get some shoes with a gift certificate my cousin got me for Christmas, and of course I can't get out of that store without popping through the jewelry section. This ring was one of the things I ended up with! The band is stretchy so it fits most fingers perfectly, and the top part literally feels like it's hugging your finger. Yeah, that's why I bought it. I mean, I never claimed to have sane reasons for why I buy things after all.

Outfit
Dress: Delia's
Leggings, Sweater: Old Navy
Necklace: American Eagle
Ring, Earrings, Bracelets: Charlotte Russe
Shoes: My dirty dirty slushy snowy and oh so warm winter Uggs

I spent pretty much all of today in bed with the exception of going in for an advising appointment to make sure I'll graduate on time (I will, in case anyone was concerned). We had a floor set at work last night which involved cleaning off the shelves and lots of dust and my AWESOME little dust allergy was not a fan, so my throat feels all but completely swollen shut today with a little side of scratchiness. No worries as far as I'm concerned though, I'm off to the store to buy some apple juice and ice cream, which I was craving anyways, so it all worked out!

Save a Horse, Ride a Dollhouse Box

You would think based on my complete lack of anything to do with an outfit that I just hadn't been wearing clothes for the last few weeks... but I think I've actually managed to come up with some new combinations. Now if only I could get some pictures. Oops!

Here are some pictures in the mean time from my "niece" Lily's 2nd birthday on Sunday. She is so fun and absolutely one of my favorite children ever and I cannot believe she's already two!

Lily in her Abby Cadabby theme crown!

Woke up from her nap and bee lined for the presents yelling "OPEN!"

"...Or maybe I want to nap for a little bit longer..."

Bought her some of her own bracelets to play with so she didn't have to steal mine anymore :-)

I have been wanting to buy her pink cowboy boots pretty much since she was born.

Save a horse, ride a dollhouse box.

Sarah's turn with the dollhouse!

Aunt Alex Cadabby.

Oh look! Dad makes a nice horse too!

I'll do my best to get some kind of outfit and pictures together soon. I've also been trying to catch up on reading a lot of your blogs! It has been a busy week since school started! Hope everyone is doing well and avoiding all those bugs going around.

Love: O.P.I.

O.P.I. has within the last year tied Milani for my all time favorite nail polishes. I love how they both go on really easily and smoothly without being too thick, and make it easy for multiple coats to be applied.

The new Katy Perry O.P.I. line is coming out soon, if not already in stores near you, and once I saw it on a friend's Facebook page my roommate Kelly and I had to run out and try to find it. We are particularly interested in the "Black Shatter" color shown below. It goes on in one solid coat and as it dries it crackles up to leave a really cool looking effect.

From left to right, all shown with Black Shatter: Last Friday Night, Not Like the Movies, The One That Got Away, and Teenage Dream

You can see a video here of the colors in person and how the Black Shatter works. I love all the colors but I really love the Teenage Dream because it's more of a multidimensional sparkle opposed to a flat shimmer.

Unfortunately the salon by us did not have it in yet, but of course while we were looking I found another color (or fifty) that I convinced myself I had to have and bought "Glitzerland." I love it because it's almost a combination of gold and silver that looks like champagne, and lighter colors like this look way better on my almost non-existent fingernails. (Click picture for source- I only wish my nails looked this good!)

We will definitely be going back in the future to look for the other colors! Have you ever tried O.P.I.? What are your favorite colors?

Cocktail Slumber Party

Just when I think I get back in the swing of things... here I am a week later! Here's a picture post of how the Cocktail Slumber Party for Betsy's Birthday turned out! It ended up being a lot of fun and REALLY DELICIOUS as far as the food is concerned. I think a good time was had by all :-)

The food lineup! Special thanks to Betsy for her amazing guacamole and Lauryn for her amazing Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Wouldn't be a slumber party without some grown women in onesies!

Lauryn showed up with this: best and worst idea ever.

The random shot game. Pick a card off the floor, take the corresponding shot (Of: Sprite, Water, Malibu, Absolut, or 99 Bananas. SURPRISE!)

Maybe we should have done the nails BEFORE we started drinking...

(At least we remembered to do the cake this time...)

Party Planning

Thursday really needs to go ahead and roll around so I can get this Cocktail Slumber Party birthday going or I'm going to drive myself crazy with the planning! I want to keep it pretty simple, and I already have most of the shopping done for both food/drinks and the decorations. I kind of went a different direction than I originally planned because I found some napkins that were cuter than the ones I first looked out, but here's some inspiration so far:

I'm pretty sure that by the time this week is over I will be the proud new owner of a cupcake stand. I can't stop thinking about how adorable they are and what a great table centerpiece one would make, not to mention they are pretty inexpensive if you go with a smaller one. I think I really might be crazy... who spends this much time planning a small party and obsessing over cupcake stands? Would it surprise anyone to know that I've decided to pursue Corporate Event planning as a career? Haha

Please tell me someone else out there gets as excited as I do to plan even the smallest gathering!

LAST First Day of School

It's a bittersweet day... what might likely be my very last first day of school in my almost 22 years of living. Though there's always the possibility I'll come back and do grad school some time in the future, it's strange that after this semester I will more or less be done with the whole thing. HOW AM I ALREADY A MERE FOUR MONTHS AWAY FROM GRADUATING COLLEGE!? Wow.

I did manage to get some outfit pictures today, but they're a far cry from the "First Day of School" pictures mom always used to take at the bus stop of me, my brother, and all the neighbor kids in our favorite new outfits purchased specially for the occasion. I think that might be what I miss most about being in grade school... no one insists on buying you a whole new wardrobe, office, and art supplies just for the start of school. My mom did buy me this purse over the weekend though, and I might actually be more excited about that anyways.

(Forgive my wrinkled dress, worn off makeup, and gray fuzzies from the vest... given that my first class was at 9 this morning, I didn't actually make time for the photo shoot until after two classes and a bunch of errands. I assure you I looked a little more lively this morning!)

Outfit
Dress, Leggings: Old Navy
Scarf: from India
Boots: Charlotte Russe
Necklace: Chewlry
Vest: Forever 21
Purse: Carlos Santana

Thank god for natural lighting and my new favorite camera spot, even if it doesn't get my shoes in the picture. I love when it's snowy and all the light is reflected! More to come on the purse. I think I might be excited enough to do an entire blog post dedicated to it.
