Well, the laptop is on the fritz again... which is rather disappointing because I had been on SUCH a good role keeping up with this! However, this weekend when I get home and am able to upload pictures/have internet access other than on my phone, you can expect updates regarding Homecoming weekend, tailgating, the football game, and other not so pleasant details from the day. ALSO-- I've added to the family and am the proud new mommy of two little African dwarf frogs and a snail (which was just added, the frogs don't seem to know what to do about him just yet...). So like any new mother I've got a million pictures of these hillarious little guys and will be sure to post a few.
For now.... hopefully everyone has a great rest of the week. I'll be back on friday. ;-)

Halloween Costume Time.
In the spirit of October and the fact that Kelly and I are heading off to get the fabric and what not to make our costumes today, I thought it might be fun to recap past Halloween costumes. Hopefully this year's will be just as good, as we've got a few planned. :-)

Remember Bosses' Day This Friday.
I just got an e-mail from Zeidler's in Newburgh (Yes, send your mother flowers for ONE Mother's Day and in return get the companionship of e-mail bombardment for the rest of your life) informing me that Bosses' Day is this friday.
First of all... I feel like flowers seem like a bit of a creepy thing to send to your boss? I mean unless I am your boss because I LOVE real flowers, but last time I checked I didn't hold much power over anyone. Second of all, Zeidler's... perhaps you'd first like to find me a job to supply a boss
that I could consider sending flowers to, because the last 30 job applications I filled out didn't turn out too fruitfully.
But anyway, for those of you that have bosses, maybe you're interested in knowing that their day is friday and apparently they might like some flowers. And for those of you who aren't bosses, like myself... here are some VIRTUAL flowers freshly picked from the Zeidler's website.

My Head is Spinning.
So, I've spent the last two hours embarking on the beginning of the long journey that is finding an internship. I'm largely focused on Chicago due to the fact that my dad now has an apartment there (WITH A SPARE BEDROOM) which means no extra rent cost, because lord knows subletting in Bloomington is practically impossible.
So far I've come up with a few in the area I'm interested in, including Blistex, MillerCoors, BMW, Solo Cup, United Airlines, and a few others. Drunken soft lips in luxury cars? Hey, they say follow your interests. I'm sure there are plenty more to be found, and many companies aren't even putting specific opportunities out there yet, so this is just preliminary research. I also may try to look into something retail related. I'd like the focus to be marketing/sales or something along those lines if at all possible. I can only hope I've got the economy on my side for this one, I mean, who DOESN'T want a free (unpaid) intern willingly throwing themselves at the company?
I guess backups, if Chicago doesn't work out, will probably be the Indianapolis/St. Louis areas. I'd like to think maybe I could commute to Indy. Though a full time job with a 40 minute drive tacked on both ways may not bode so well with my sleep schedule. We'll see.

HALLOWEEN'S COMING!
So after finishing midterms last week and returning to Bloomington after a two day trip home that felt more like a few hours, I decided Saturday night and Sunday would best be dedicated to laying around on the couch in the dark all day watching horror movies. I was quite delighted to discover that we've got a MILLION for free OnDemand. Thank goodness!
Saturday night I watched Wicked Little Things, a story with a somewhat boring plot of a mother and her two daughters moving to a town once thriving with mines after the death of her husband, only to be stalked by zombie children. I must admit, however, that the zombie kids were scary as hell. I started on Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, but didn't manage to finish that before bed.
Sunday, I finished House of 1000 Corpses, which I don't think was anything like I would have expected. I kind of liked the "freak show/circus" feel it put out. I also watched The Midnight Meat Train featuring the ever so sexy Bradley Cooper, about a photographer trying to boost his career by catching a subway serial killer in action. DEFINITELY some good twists in that one, though the ending was slightly bizarre and questionable. Finished it off with Catacombs, a fear net original with Shannyn Sossamon from Rules of Attraction and Pink (Yes, the singer). This one was about a girl who goes to visit her sister in Paris, where they go to a party held below the streets of Paris in the famous Catacombs, and not all of the party guests make it out alive. The twists in THAT one were nothing I could ever have seen coming.
So on the bright side this weekend got me full on in the swing of Halloween and I saw some pretty decent horror films. On the downside, I can't open my window and so much as hear the leaves blowing about outside without thinking a serial killer lurks right outside our apartment. Now I can't wait to see Paranormal Activity and The Stepfather, among others, in theaters!

THANK YOU Chelsea Handler.
An entry straight from Chelsea Handler's blog:
Alcohol has always been linked to depression. Since it is a depressant, it usually ends up "deadening feelings" in people who consume it regularly. I usually refer to those moments as blackouts, but to each his own. Now a new study shows that non-drinkers may be more depressed than people who drink. The study showed that people who abstain from alcohol have more anxiety and are at a higher risk for depression. Here at the office, we refer to this as the "No S--t" study.

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!
What a great excuse to break from studying for midterms. I practically jumped the UPS guy on his way to the door. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY TAYLAS! Ok ok, I'll admit it... my name is Alex and I'm addicted to shoes.
I'm SO glad they fit. Though due to the design of them they're next to impossible to put on- really just to squeeze the ball of your heel in before zipping. Right now I'm wearing them around, doing lunges, all sorts of good and slightly awkward movements to stretch them out a little bit. They're also surprisingly comfortable (as far as standing on them is concerned) for high heels, which is VERY nice! I think once I get them stretched out just a little bit they'll be perfect!

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY.
I HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS MOVIE! Apparently it's "The Next Blair Witch Project", and those who have seen it say it's the scariest movie of the decade. They also say the only thing that came close was The Descent, which I personally loved, and I thought that was absolutely terrifying. They claim "35 people had walked out of an early test screening; exit interviews with those folks revealed it wasn't because they weren't enjoying the film. It was because they were too scared." Here's the link to the full article with the story about it:http://insidemovies.movief
Unfortunately they're releasing it on a "Demanded" basis, explained in the article, despite that it was picked up by Paramount at Slamdance. They're going to go wide with it once they hit 1,000,000 demands, and are already about halfway there, so go here and 'Demand It' in your city if you think you might be interested.

Also-- any reviews from anyone who's already seen Zombieland? And anyone in/around the Bloomington area, Kel and I are looking for some good Haunted Houses (real or fake) or supposedly haunted locations in the area to check out this month.
LOVE Halloween :-)

Claire, Alex, and Kelly Escapades
WAY too much happened last night to really sum anything up efficiently, so we'll recap with a brief list.
x Shotglass glow bowling with christmas lights and a light up ball.
x Dark Side of Oz, for the 800th time (It never gets old), accompanied by...
x A game of "Little Person or Child" and...
x The realization that all the Munchkins have flowers sticking out of their shoes and hats.
x Claire's made up game consisting of placing post it notes with instructions all over the checkered floor, placing an object (hair clip this time) on the fan, turning it on, and following the instructions of whatever square you land on. This cannot EVEN be described to sound as good as it was.
x Hallway gymnastics, resulting in a very sore Alex and Kelly.
x Top Hats, Russians, and Sunglasses, OH MY!
x LOTS of Girl Talk dancey dance. (Feed The Animals. To my disappointment there were no real animals.)
I'd say it was a lovely way to end my freedom for the next week as we roll into ICORE midterms. I may update within a few days with pictures, if you're lucky.

DAMN YOU STEVE MADDEN!
And damn YOU Zappos and Nordstrom for your free shipping on shoes. I've seemingly got an unhealthy (for my bank account, anyways) obsession with shoes, and can't stop finding myself thinking of things to sell or clever ways to save money in the next few weeks (Hey, food isn't THAT important, right?) so I can afford all three of these. And believe me, where there's a will, there's a way, and I WILL have them eventually! Plus, the Merriees are totally on sale and my mouth has been watering over those for months now. I think it may be time to say goodbye to the Ibanez and the Zildjans...
