HALLOWEEN'S COMING!

So after finishing midterms last week and returning to Bloomington after a two day trip home that felt more like a few hours, I decided Saturday night and Sunday would best be dedicated to laying around on the couch in the dark all day watching horror movies. I was quite delighted to discover that we've got a MILLION for free OnDemand. Thank goodness!

Saturday night I watched Wicked Little Things, a story with a somewhat boring plot of a mother and her two daughters moving to a town once thriving with mines after the death of her husband, only to be stalked by zombie children. I must admit, however, that the zombie kids were scary as hell. I started on Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, but didn't manage to finish that before bed.
Sunday, I finished House of 1000 Corpses, which I don't think was anything like I would have expected. I kind of liked the "freak show/circus" feel it put out. I also watched The Midnight Meat Train featuring the ever so sexy Bradley Cooper, about a photographer trying to boost his career by catching a subway serial killer in action. DEFINITELY some good twists in that one, though the ending was slightly bizarre and questionable. Finished it off with Catacombs, a fear net original with Shannyn Sossamon from Rules of Attraction and Pink (Yes, the singer). This one was about a girl who goes to visit her sister in Paris, where they go to a party held below the streets of Paris in the famous Catacombs, and not all of the party guests make it out alive. The twists in THAT one were nothing I could ever have seen coming.

So on the bright side this weekend got me full on in the swing of Halloween and I saw some pretty decent horror films. On the downside, I can't open my window and so much as hear the leaves blowing about outside without thinking a serial killer lurks right outside our apartment. Now I can't wait to see Paranormal Activity and The Stepfather, among others, in theaters!
